Daily exercise in essential for the physical and mental health of your Bulldog. Regular walks, ball chasing, and play all help the Bulldog puppy develop into a fit, healthy, and happy adult.
Certain obvious precautions are worth mentioning. No Bulldog should engage in any strenuous exercise when the temperatures exceed 70 degrees. The Bulldog, being a brachycephalic breed, can have difficulty breathing and are prone to heat exhaustion. Also, exercises that include jumping should be kept to a minimum due to the stress exerted on the limbs and joints. Caution should also be used when playing tug-of-war, which Bulldogs tend to really enjoy, because of not only the possible damage to the teeth, but the pulling and jerking action could cause serious damage to the spine and neck.
It seems sometimes that Bulldogs know their own limit, and when your Bullie is tired, don't push him. Some can walk around the block five times and still come home wanting to play tug while others are content with moving their jaw during feeding time. And, although they don't seem much like exercise, pay close attention to your Bulldog when around stairs and when they jump up onto the furniture (if they're allowed). Since the Bulldogs limbs and joints are normally abnormal, many times just a small twist in the wrong direction can cause problems.
