Dog Breath
Bulldogs are known to have "doggie breath from hell".   But there are various causes as to why this is.  Most causes of bad breath are caused by dental or gum disease, or less commonly by stomach trouble or ill tonsils.  To promote healthy teeth and gums, regular brushing and periodic tartar removal is recommended.  Be sure to treat any upper respiratory or digestive system infection as well.  However, if you notice an ammonia-like smell, this could be a sign of kidney failure and the bullie should be taken to your veterinarian as soon as possible.  A "fruity" breath odor could also be a sign of diabetes, even though it rarely seen in Bulldogs.
