Chew Bones
Your Bulldog may love bones, but it is probably not in their best interest to have any.  Bulldogs are strong chewers and are capable of demolishing a bone in a very short time.  If a Bulldog swallows any pieces of the bone, it can cause serious intestinal problems, including an obstruction which requires surgery and can be life threatening.  Of course, each Bulldog is different, so if you do chose to supply bones for chewing, pay close attention and remove the bone if you notice it splintering.  Certain types of bones should be avoided all together such as fish and poultry.  Most subsitute chew bones made of rawhide and other synthetic materials are more safe, however, still monitor for splintering.  Bulldogs also enjoy chewing hardened animal by-products such as pigs ears until they are soft enough to be swallowed which could partially or fully block their already restricted airways which could be a life threatening situation.  The good news is that Bulldogs usually lose their desire to chew as they age.
